Piano Scales Star

My son was preparing for his piano exam. While he played the music well, his scales, arpeggios and chords were dragging behind. I’ve noticed that • He tended to “forget” to practice the most difficult scales. • When asked to play a random scale, he often paused for quite a long period, then made fingering mistakes on the first try.

So I’ve made a simple app that showed all his “scales” randomly one by one. With the app nothing was skipped and playing a random scale became a routine.

My son got the maximum mark for Technical Tests. No doubt the app helped.

This app inspired me to make Scales Star - a full-featured app that has everything you may need for practicing scales.

• All Technical Tests (scales, arpeggios, chords) for ABRSM grades 1 to 4 and RCM levels 5 to 9. • Tests may be presented in order or randomly or selected from the list. • Scales that are not relevant at the moment may be hidden. • All tests come with high quality sheet music with fingering. Scales have fingering charts. Both may be expanded full screen and printed. • There is a metronome. It is set to the tempo required for the selected test and may be adjusted. • The student can give himself marks. The average mark is calculated.
