Rename It! Pro

The actual renaming functionality without leaving the Metro/8.1 interface is very strong. I particularly like that there's a checkbox option to automatically normalize the leading zeros in a _000n suffix. So you can just specify "1" for the index suffix and if you have only 99 files in the folder, the app will automatically add _01, _02, etc. But if there are 1200 files in the folder, the app will automatically add _0001, _0002, and so on. The only flaws with the program are: 1) The workflow is a little unintuitive and there is no Help, so you have to experiment a little bit to figure out how to do stuff. In particular, the file renaming options are laid out and labeled in a way that makes sense to developer types, but not necessarily to your average non-developer. 2) The app gives no "processing feedback" when it needs to take more than a few seconds to do something. If you've just selected a folder with 1000+ photos in it, for example, it appears to do nothing for 20-ish seconds.

Great concept, but when closing my folder, I can't see the photos so I don't know what to add. For example, if I want to make it by events for work, I can't see the photos to add. I just have to blindly select. Kind of counterintuitive. Useless until this is fixed.

Yesterday I purchased Rename It! Pro and renamed within minutes over 5,000 images. All images renamed consecutively in spite of a mixture of JPG and RAW. What a powerful and easy to use program!

Just got back from vacation - my wife and I use iPhones - and because Apple only uses a 4 digit naming convention for photos, we had many photos that had the same file name. We keep photos in a uniquely named vacation folder for each vacation - couldn't put her's and my iphone photos in the same folder because one would overwrite the other - destroying one photo. Solution was this great program - I just appended my wife's name to be back of each of her photos - took about 2 minutes learning, and 20 seconds execution. This program renames IMG_6690.jpg as IMG_6690JO.jpg - program renamed 500 files sequentially. HIghly recommended.

Just does what it purports to do. Refreshing.

I just bought this to rename a bunch of files. The UI takes just a minute to figure out, it isn't immediately clear how to proceed from file selection to actually programming it to do what you want, I might suggest an arrow between Files and Settings (e.g. Files -> Settings) or perhaps number them (1) Select Files 2) Configure 3) Run!. That said it seems plenty powerful to me and it saved me having to rename a bunch of files. I'm glad I bought it!

I use this app on a weekly basis to batch rename my DSLR camera roll from video shoots. There had been a bug where it overwrote one of my files, and I emailed the developer. He had a fix within days. Thanks!
