NPR One

Downloaded this on my computer and phone. On my computer it just loads national news stories and has streaming audio of the local station. On my phone, not only does it stream local station but has a menu with all sorts of stories and categories to hear. Love that. I can pick out the popular podcasts and programs. But wondering why the computer version does not have this drop down menu.

Great app, plays all my radio podcast and easy to navigate through. No need for going to the website anymore. Thanks!

NPR One is fantastic... When I can use it. It's December now, with the final Windows 10 Mobile version out for the insiders. Where's our app? At least let us use the Windows Phone 8.1 version while we wait. Finally, NPR updated the app with support for phone. Thanks.

Other than the basics, this app has quickly become my favorite source for information. NPR is so much better than even Google at keeping me properly informed that I find I feel smarter just by listening to it. It doesn't even matter what show pops up in the queue, chances are, it will be something worth listening to. (And you can skip through shows you don't enjoy or don't have the emotional capacity to handle right now, which is awesome, but they also allow you to save shows for listening to "later"). In short, this app has everything that you would expect out of a PAID podcast/news source/educational app, but it's FREE and it's got so much more than anything you could have hoped for. :) I almost feel guilty for getting this app for free! (There are plenty of options to donate too though if you do want to help fund NPR via the app)

Finally they're available on XBOX one. Sometimes you just wanna listen to the news or commentary instead of music. ***Updated*** I lowered it to 4 stars. It sometimes doesn't work, but just uninstall and reinstall to fix it.

I like that I can choose from different cities stations.

Love this app, but it desperately needs a volume control slider. On phones you don't really need this as you don't typically have multiple sources/notifications that need to be mixed at the same time as the NPR content playing. On a PC though, I have to turn up my main volume to hear NPR, but then my other PC's sounds are too high so I have to lower them. In many cases, the NPR content is recorded at different volumes so I'm constantly adjusting my main volume to adjust for NPR recording levels from program to program, which then messes up the levels of the other apps that I adjusted to deal with the main volume being adjusted. Long story short, please put in volume control. UPDATE: I have found the search feature in the app to be HORRIBLE. You can ONLY search for the name of a show, not the title or other keywords. So you can't search for a particular show, you have to search for "TED" or "fresh air" or "all things considered" and then browse through the limited list.

This is a really nicely designed app for NPR fans. I like the slider that tells me what is coming up and the ability to flag interesting content. Plus, there are times when I think to myself "wait, what did she just say?", and going back is great for that. Love this app.
