Chronotron

I have been using the Amazing Slow Downer for years as a music practice tool. The Chronotron takes it up a notch by allowing you to manipulate the pitch and tempo of YouTube videos and other video sources. With this capability, you can dissect songs, solos and musical lines in ways that were previously impossible. It's a great tool to help enhance your musicianship.

This app is great for learning technically difficult music. You can slow the music tempo down (or speed it up) while maintaining the true pitch. You can also add place markers to make it easy to jump to a certain points of interest in a song. There is even a loop function that allows you to play a portion of the song over and over as long as you like. I use it to learn lightning fast bass guitar riffs note for note. This app will also let you play back a song in a higher or lower key, which is great for vocalists who want to learn a song that is out of their normal range.

I am a square dance caller and a part of my requirements is to be able to adjust the temp and the pitch individually. This app does just that - and saves the settings. Because of what I am using this for, I have requested a few changes/upgrades to the software and the developer has been very gracious in adding many of those requests. Other software that I have seen which changes pitch/tempo does not have the good sound that this app does. I have tried changing the pitch/tempo quite a bit, and there does not seem to be any distortion. The software I am using now just does not play well with Windows 8 and I'm hoping that this will be a good replacement on my tablet. The price on this app is very good. I would have been willing to pay 10 times that much (which is still less than the software I am using now). I am giving this a rating of 5 stars because it works great for what it was designed for.

Since the latest Upgrade,I had some problems with the application getting stuck when playing vidoes. However, their support responded quickly to resolve the problem. I turned off cast shadows on transparente controls and the problem was resolved. Kudos to the developers!
