Animation Desk Classic

If you want to learn how to draw and/or animate, I wouldn't say this is the app. I find it lacks in details for instance; 1) it doesn't have many brush options, and a major lack in colors. 2) as far as I could find you can't zoom in. 3) Picking the various brushes is annoying, I know it's a bit nit picky, but ease of access is a lot for me. 4) It doesn't work very well with the Surface pen, no pressure sensitivity, and not a very fine point even at it's smallest tip. 5) I don't like micro-purchases for my colors, that's just wrong. I would suggest Sketchbook for drawing, or for easy animation Pixel Art Studio. If you want real detail for animation look up Studio Ghibli and Futurama's animation program, it's free.

The app offers a good amount of tools for a beginner. You can choose whatever color you like and the right sizes or opacity, which is great. Though it has a few bugs, and at times it crashes, it still works pretty neatly.

It is easy to use BUT when I try to upload/save a project it crashes. Do yourself a favor...before spending a great deal of time on a project try something simple (winking happy face) and see if it works for you....

I think this app works very well to do painstaking hand drawn animation. It's like a digital flipbook! Works as advertised, however I find that I have to RESTART ALOT because after a few frames it gets all buggy. good news is that this windows version DOES have an onion skin mode. you must click on the light bulb at the bottom of the screen to active it. this app appears to have way more functions than we realize, so I my biggest suggestion for the developer is to INCLUDE AN IN-DEPTH tutorial mode.

I've just recently got this application, to say the least I'm still a beginner at animation. Though the app has some good and some bad, I have yet to find other colors like black, brown. Another thing that disappoints me is that you cannot see the last frame to make sure your character/animation is too far off from the first one. Overall it's not the best, it's OK.

All of these reviews are wrong, you can choose what color you want on the colors that are there by hold it in, same goes for the brushes, just hold it in and you can choose from some others. I don't know why they couldn't figure that out, wasn't that hard. This doesn't have poor quality. I love this, but if you wanted a free great painting program, go with Krita, this is for doodling and sketching, but if you're serious about art Krita is a great way to go

I was actually surprised that the set up was accurate, since it had features like giving you the illusion of drawing on animation paper. BUT important features for animations and drawing in general are missing. There is no option for onion skin, there are limited colors (and black isn't even included!), and the way the 'pen' draws is really splotchy. the only way to get a smooth line is by drawing fast, and I don't know anyone who draws exactly what they want in fast strokes. It was like drawing with a broken pen who was crying ink. Really really splotchy. Makes for a messy look.

This app is hard to use for something larger than an idea sketch. App crashes constantly. Drawing functionality is not great, you can't zoom in or out and you can't rotate image which makes it harder to draw perfect lines. No layers what so ever, which is not big deal but desirable. Minimal pencil size is 4 which is way too thick for my drawings. Overall if you want to create an imperfect animation to redraw later - you will be pleased.
