Description Pacific Coast Sportfishing was once called South Coast Sportfishing, which published its first issue back in 1981. Volume 1/Number 1 billed itself as “The Only Newspaper-Magazine Serving Exclusively the Southern California and Baja Sportfishermen” and was 38 pages long on black-and-white newsprint. Since then, the magazine has grown a lot in terms of our page counts and our subscribers – not to mention paper and color quality – but the basic premise is the same: We’re strictly about West Coast saltwater angling, covering the legendary waters from Central America, north to Alaska, and west to Hawaii. Our mission is to entertain and educate our readers with technique-oriented features, exciting travel destinations, true stories of amazing catches, and inside information they won’t find anywhere else. Each year we release eleven new issues with dozens of exclusive feature stories and original articles – all enhanced with striking photography. Besides how-to and technique-type articles, we highlight and interview the interesting people and personalities from the sportfishing community. Our talented team of writers and editors includes private boat and six-pack captains, experienced anglers, and seasoned saltwater journalists. In 2010 we launched our first ever saltwater sportfishing show. As sportfishing has evolved over the years into a more conservation-minded community, so has this magazine. Pacific Coast Sportfishing is determined to keep fishermen informed on pending legislation like the Marine Life Protections Act (MLPA) and how to ensure the future of this fishery.
