Concept Star Q Reader Trial is a learning and practicing edition of the general purpose relationship modeling and decision tool called Concept Star Q. It can also be used to open existing models for review. The Reader Trial edition allows you to: • Learn the mechanics of relationship modeling, including Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM). (See Trial Mode) • Explore and evaluate Concept Star Q software. (See Trial Mode) • Read any relationship model created with the full version of Concept Star 3.64 or Concept Star Q. (See Reader Mode)
TRIAL MODE ========== Trial Mode is entered by creating a new document. In this mode:
1) You can create small trial models with a maximum of 8 ideas each.
2) You can use all functions of Concept Star Q application in your small model, including: • Enter and edit ideas (but limited to 8 ideas for Trial Mode) • Enter and edit the context phase and relation phase, which are used during model creation. • Select the modeling tool (Interpretive Structural Modeling, Linear Interpretive Modeling, or Interrelationship Digraph) • Construct the model by entering relationships between ideas. This is done by you using pair-wise analyze on the Voting screen. • Use the optional Secondary Link feature • Postpone entering a relationship for 2 ideas (This is also known as Skip Vote) • Delete votes (i.e. delete relationship entries) • Display the graphical relationship model with the ideas shown in Idea Boxes and arrows between them showing the relationships. • Change the position of each Idea Box in the graphical model. • Change size of each Idea Box in the graphical model. • Change the background color of each Idea Box in the graphical model. • Display a relationship matrix showing, for each From-To pair of ideas, the Vote that you entered and the reachability value for the relationship. • Select a specific From-To pair of ideas to display more details on their relationship and, optionally do action that depends on the relationship (Vote and reachability value).
3) You cannot save your model. This means that any work you do must be done in a single session.
4) You cannot print you model.
5) You cannot copy your model to other application. (However, you can use the Windows Snipping Tool to include results in learning assignments.) 6) You can explore effects of transitive logic (aka transitive law) on relationship models. The 3 tools use Transitive Logic in different ways.
7) If you have internet access, you can see the full Concept Star Q context-sensitive help system by pressing the F1 key on any screen.
READER MODE =========== Reader mode is useful when you are working with someone who uses the full professional edition of Concept Star 3.64 or Concept Star Q. You can open, review, and print their models. Reader Mode is entered by opening an existing Concept Star document. In this mode:
1) You can open any size model created with Concept Star 3.64 or Concept Star Q Professional edition, independent of the number of ideas in the model.
2) You cannot modify the model or any information in the model. Model creation actions are not available.
3) You can re-position the idea boxes or change their color. Doing this can help to understand the model better. However, you cannot save these changes, but you can print them.
4) You can copy most information and paste it into other applications to include in reports.
5) You can print the model: list of ideas, list of votes, the graphical relationship model and the relationship matrix.
6) You cannot save the model. You cannot accidentally over-write the work that was done to create the model.
