Description

When a ray of light enters a prism, due to the change in speed of light as it enters a new medium, it bends towards the normal at the first surface. Then, it travels through the prism and bends away from the normal at the second surface. The angle between the incident ray and the emergent ray is called the angle of deviation (δ). The i-d and i1-i2 graphing is a method of studying the refraction and deviation of light through a prism. The refractive index of the material of the prism (μ) is related to these angles by Snell’s law. For the learning and teaching community, this simulator is a valuable tool.
