Description
PLEASE NOTE THIS APP WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT YOU HAVING YOUR OWN MOTOROLA PREMISE HOME CONTROL SERVER (FREE HOME AUTOMATION SOFTWARE RUNNING ON A WINDOWS PC) TO CONTROL YOUR HOME. YOUR INSTALLATION OF PREMISE IS ALSO REQUIRED TO HAVE MY SPEECHPARSER MODULE SETUP (ALSO FREE ON MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL SEE SUPPORT LINK BELOW).
VIDEO OF THE APP IN ACTION: SEE APP SUPPORT LINK BELOW.
BACKGROUND: Control anything connected to your Motorola Premise Home Control (FREE home automation PC based software), using your voice and Cortana! Cortana will send whatever you say after "Control Home" to your Premise server. Your Premise server then uses a free SpeechParser module to translate the sentence into home automation commands that the Premise server performs.
This is done via a voice enabled Cortana service for hands free operation. For hands-free operation just say "Hey Cortana Control Home" followed by a command phrase like "turn on the master bedroom light." Following a successful command, Cortana reads back exactly what your Premise server did, so you know for sure what task was performed.
The additional required software Premise Home Control and my Premise SpeechParser module are completely FREE, plus I show step by step videos on how to set everything up on my YouTube channel (see app support link).
INSTALLATION: This app requires that you have a working Premise Home Control server setup already, and it also requires that SpeechPraser be installed on the Premise server. If you are new to home automation, please see the tutorial videos on my YouTube channel (use app support link) for how to setup the Premise server and the SpeechParser module.
This app is meant to be installed on a device other than your Premise server. This device must be compatible with Windows Universal Apps (e.g. Windows 10 or Windows Phone 8.1 or higher).
Open the Cortana Control Home app, and fill in your Premise server address, port, username and password. Click "Set Values" and close the app. The app itself is just a front end to input the server values. A background server does all the work by receiving the spoken phrase from Cortana, and then providing Cortana a sentence to read back.
Since the app uses an HTTP connection, it means sensitive home automation commands will not be encrypted (see warranty section under Additional Terms for more information).
This app will send a text string representing what was spoken to your Premise server. Your Premise Home Control server does all the processing via my SpeechParser module (download for free from my YouTube channel). The SpeechParser command phrases are easily customized, and are NOT order dependent. End user setup for the SpeechParser module is straight forward, and covered in tutorial video numbers 7.x on my YouTube channel.
If you want to use this app on the same machine as your Premise server, you need to enable a network loopback for this app on your Windows machine; in this manner the app will have access to localhost. This is NOT recommended as it bypasses security features imposed by Microsoft for all Windows Apps. However, one could hypothetically download this program to easily setup the needed loopback: http://loopback.codeplex.com/
