Description
Pastelist Pro is a tool for pastelists using a photograph as a starting point. It is based on the Munsell color system. Demo with a video, more info, a stripped down "Try it yourself", etc: https://pastelpainter.net Pastelist Pro will tell you exactly which pastels to use (with ID and brand names) and where to use them in the image. You can choose between 10 well known pastel brands which together make up more than 3000 pastel sticks: Blue Earth, Faber-Castell, Gireault, Great American, Mount Vision, Mungyo, Rembrandt, Schmincke, Sennelier, Unison. Pastelist Pro reduces thousands of colors in a photo to a palette of between 2 and 255 colors. Each color can be isolated in the image and displayed in your palette with a Munsell notation and the name of the pastel stick which has the nearest color. Other colors in the image will appear gray in color. But that is not all. Pastelist Pro has several tools in its toolbox. For example, instead of creating the palette automatically, you also have the option of creating it yourself. Move your cursor over the image and in a little window in the left-hand column, you will see the color with the Munsell notation or the pastel stick with the nearest color (named with ID and brand name). By clicking or tapping on the image, the same information will be shown at the spot where you have clicked or tapped. You may choose between an exact measurement (based on a 1x1-pixel area) or an average based on either a 12x12-pixel or 24x24-pixel area. The Pastelist Pro will also tell you how much the color from the preferred pastel deviates from the color in the picture. If you wish to see how your palette will appear in the image, click or tap on the transfer button. The colors in the image then change to the color of the pastel sticks (the deviations will hence change to 0). By clicking on the Option button, you can also add the HSV, HSL, or HSI color systems. The images and text can be saved and thus reloaded into Pastelist Pro or be printed. Although Pastelist Pro is made for the pastelists, other artists may find it useful too.
