This application will help improve your speaking fluency by a translation exercise and summarizing exercise. Application will generate audio files for you to make such exercises easy to do on the go. You have to copy some suitable text that you like into clipboard to make generating of such files possible.
For translation exercise copy some text in your native language into clipboard, select the appropriate voice and other parameters and generate the files. You will listen to audio files generated by this application and translate individual phrases into a target language either in your mind or aloud. Every phrase in the audio will be followed by a period of silence giving you enough time for your translation.
For summarizing exercise copy some text in your target language into clipboard, select the appropriate voice and other parameters and generate the files. Resulting audio is divided into small paragraphs, each followed by a period of silence which gives you opportunity to summarize the paragraph in target language in your own words either in your mind or aloud. The summarizing exercise is easier to do because you can make use of the words just heard to formulate your own summary in the target language. At the beginning, use short paragraphs, not longer than 300 characters because it will help you to remember more text of the original paragraph and thus to formulate your summary more easily.
You can carry the audio files in your mp3 player or smartphone and therefore you can do the exercises on the go, when you are walking, jogging or doing some other menial tasks.
What is the suitable text? It may be some newspaper article copied to clipboard from Internet or some short story for children or even your favourite book. The difficulty of the text should correspond approximately to your proficiency in the target language. Visit the web site of Project Gutenberg in order to find suitable text in your native and target languages.
During the exercise you will naturally stumble on number of words and phrases, but that's OK. Use descriptive roundabout in your translation if you can, or simply move on and concentrate on the next phrase. The primary principle is to activate your passive vocabulary into the ability of fluent speaking, which requires diligent exercise. Precise translation of phrases or learning new words has secondary importance. Searching for words in a dictionary must be avoided because it means loss of time and concentration. In the real-life situations, there is no time for looking into dictionary anyway, so get used to it. During the second round of translation, you will probably be able to translate more phrases. But you can simply move on to another text and generate new audio files for your translation exercise.
You can also use this application for immediate listening of the Clipboard text. You can also set period of silence to zero and generate audio files (books) for pastime listening. There are some good applications on Microsoft Store, capable of converting wav files into mp3 format with optional level of shrinking if your mp3 player does not like wav files.
Application is capable working with languages where end of the sentence is marked by one of the following characters .!?。. Only languages and voices supported by Microsoft's Windows 10 operating system can be selected from those installed on your computer. If your target language is not installed, go to computer Settings command and install it. The speed of speaking can be slowed down through application options if necessary.
