Descripción
"Baba Tahir or Baba Taher Oryan Hamadani (Persian: باباطاهر عریان همدانی) was an 11th-century Persian wise and mystic poet from Hamadan (Midwest of Iran) who lived during the reign of Tugril [993-1063] of the Seljuk dynasty over Iran. It is been said that Tugril met Baba in 1055 near Hamadan, and asked him for his wisdom and Baba advised him to be a just ruler for people and not a tyrant. This is almost all that is known of him as he lived a mysterious lifestyle. His original dialect is what usually referred to as Fahlaviat which belongs to North West Group of Middle Persian Languages and nowadays only one or two minority groups in that region are still using it. Although prefix 'Baba' (roughly meaning 'The Wise' or 'The Respected') has been thought as part of his name in all known sources, his nickname 'Oryan' ( meaning 'The Naked' ) did not appear until about 17th-century. The nickname was probably attributed to him because he seemed to lead a very spiritual and stoic lifestyle and his direct and straightforward way of expressing complicated philosophic meanings in his poems.
